Ragnarock Rock Museum

Good sparring and unique products

The Ragnarock Museum in Roskilde is Denmark's new museum for rock, pop, and youth culture, which, based on the music, tells the history of youth culture from the 1950s to the present day. The exhibition is a sensory bombardment of sound, light, video, and other effects.

Kasper Stouenborg from Stouenborg ApS was commissioned to design the exhibition light, and Gobo A/S was chosen as lighting supplier. Kasper has previously worked with Gobo A/S and has always been very pleased with the collaboration.

"They have a really good selection of products to solve these kinds of extensive tasks.  Especially a product like the mini luminaires from Swedish LjusDesign is completely unique when it comes to display case lighting. With them, you can, among other things, change the optics and set the color temperature."

Advanced know-how

The control system consists of an MA2 Replay Unit with a Command Wing as a mobile control panel. Gobo A/S was responsible for the basic programming of the MA system, and Kasper Stouenborg is pleased with the choice of operating system.

"I wouldn't have done the solution with anything else. Although on the surface it may seem like a simple task, it requires a very advanced product to solve it. Lighting control is used for everything from the façade lighting, which changes with the circadian rhythm, to the effects of the exhibition lighting and stage lighting with moving light - and it must be able to handle it all simultaneously and all the time. This system is unique for that."

Gobo A/S also provided a programmer who could contribute with setting up the entire system and programming the various areas according to Stouenborg's instructions.

Last-second sparring

When a deadline approaches, you sometimes need quick, good solutions.

"Right up until the opening of the exhibition, we had a situation where we lacked lighting on the band Gasolin's old limousine, Betty. Therefore, we should have quickly found a lighting that suited. Here, Gobo A/S was good at showing up with different lamps that we could try out and finally choose the ones that solved the task in the best possible way."

According to Kasper Stouenborg, it is not only the unique product range that applies to the choice of Gobo A/S as supplier. It is just as much about advice and guidance.

"They always provide good sparring when you call with a specific lighting task. And they are always reachable. All in all, I would definitely recommend them to others, yes."
